Support to the Energy Policy of Armenia
The project "Support to the Energy Policy of Armenia" is funded by the European Commission and aims at providing support to the Government of Armenia in the realization of its energy policy with a view to the decommissioning of Metzamor NPP and increase the use of renewable energy.
The project is carried out by Danish Energy Management in consortium with British Energy Amec NNC. The component on renewable energy aims at enhanced knowledge of the renewable energy options in the Lake Sevan basin, especially among potential investors based on comprehensive feasibility studies, leading at least to increased use of wind energy in the Northern Area of Lake Sevan basin. The present web portal on Renewable Energy in Armenia is among the measures intended to increase knowledge not only of the renewable energy options in the Lake Sevan Basin, but also in the rest of the Republic of Armenia. The portal includes a database on renewable energy sources, which is established by the project in the Ministry of Energy.
